Chapter 53

Darrell and Liam looked over every name, cross reference and piece of material that the tech department had sent them. There was a sea of information and only a short period of time to go through it. Darrell started at one end and Liam at the other. As Liam went through the information half-heartedly he realized that he was no longer giving anyone his attention. He believed that Paul Aspinall was the mastermind behind the killings. Liam looked up and watched Darrell read through the mounds of paper and data and admired his tenacity. That was what was driving the task force now.

“That’s it! I got it!” Darrell said, quietly at first.

“That’s it! I got it! I know who is doing this.” Darrell looked up at Liam and smiled.

“You were so close. Right department, wrong guy!” Darrell said waving and thrusting the piece of paper toward Liam

“It was right here the entire time. We were just looking in the wrong pile of hay.”

Liam took the piece of paper and started to read. It was a cross reference of the mobsters’ autopsy report and the volunteer list from the family planning center.
Four names stuck out and they had already spoken to two of them. Darrell knew that one of the people on the list had recently passed away and that only left one name. BILL DEVERAUX

“Darrell are you certain of this?” Liam asked.

“Yes, it makes sense. It fits. That is why Paul Aspinall looked good for this. Same church, wrong damn pew!” Darrell was excited. He wanted to jump and scream and dance until there was no tomorrow.

“You know, we need to do this the same way we did it with Paul.” Liam said, making sure that Darrell understood completely.

“Ya, you’re right.” Darrell settled down and took his seat again. He stacked the loose papers up around him and looked at Liam.

“Let’s do this!”

Liam nodded his head and the two men methodically planned every question they were going to ask. They had to make sure all the I’s were dotted and the T’s were crossed.
