Terror & Tears

CHAPTER 47

When William Devaroux returned home he was exhausted from the long day of autopsies. His brother met him at his bedroom door and pointed to where the hidden monitors were. William walked over, opened the wall and saw what his brother had indicated.

He was surprised and delighted to see that Andrew had six women holed up in the cage. In Andrew’s right hand was the list:

Brooke Wells

Angela Fryer

Wanda Grant

Valerie Winchester

Charlene Lawrence

Shelley Cousens

In his left hand was another list:

Stephanie Lange

Melissa Thorne

Gina Sinclair

Denise Fraiser

Paulla Nichols

Patricia Dawson

Nicola Brown

Christine Talbot

Theresa Whitcombe

Emma Krammer

Amanda Cavalcade

Jasmin Graves

William smiled at his brother. Andrew nodded and put both lists on the small desk and walked away.

In that silent moment William knew that his Lord’s work would be completed in half the time. He closed the wall, walked back to his bedroom feeling euphoric.

After William showered, he laid in bed, in the dark smiling like the Cheshire cat. Within minutes, exhaustion again took its hold and William fell asleep into a sound deep sleep.

The next morning, William awoke to the pleasant smell of coffee and bacon. When he stumbled downstairs he saw that his coffee and breakfast were sitting on the counter across from his brother.

“So what is the plan Drew?” William asked.

“You do the professional job and I’ll do the Lord’s work. When you get back you can help. How does that sound?” Andrew had a way of making questions sound more like statements of fact.

“Okay” was all William said as he ate his breakfast in peace.

“Oh, Drew?”

“Yep?”

“Thank you.”

“I’m doing this for her; it’s the right thing to do to honor her memory.”

“Well, all the same, thank you.”

Andrew nodded his head at his brother and then went to start the daily ‘work.’

William finished his breakfast, tidied up and then got ready for his ‘professional’ day.
