Terror & Tears
Chapter 21
The Whisperer opened the door and started down the stairs in his familiar fashion. He whispered the same verse over and over again, making sure that the women heard what he was saying.
As the Whisperer walked back up the stairs repeating the same passage, he smiled knowing that fear was settled deep within Tracey and soon enough Dianna would be feeling it too. He lived for those moments and thoroughly enjoyed reliving them when he was working at his day job. As he closed the door, he took of the mask, gloves and boots, placed them on the shelf, then went into the house and had a hot shower. This was his habit each time he had been in the basement.
Tracey was sure that she was going to stay strong for not only herself but for all the other women who had been through this place, this living hell. The girl on her lap, Dianna, was crying. Tracey could tell that she was young. Perhaps just 18 or 19. So young, so scared. Tracey scoffed at herself. Who was she kidding, she was also scared out of her mind.
“What does he mean ‘executioner’?” Dianna managed to squeak out to Tracey.
“He means he is going to kill us.” Tracey said matter of factly. She never believed in sugar coating anything and she sure was not going to start now.
“Seriously?” Dianna almost screamed.
“Yes, I’m afraid so.” Tracey said flatly. She was trying to keep what strength she had left in reserve so she could fight whatever this monster had in store for her.
Dianna started crying even harder than she was before. Tracey held her and stroked her hair waiting until the young girl cried herself out of tears.
